Central Provision of Services
All the various services groups are supported by Descartes-InterCommIT’s Central Provision of Services. This consists of three parts: Descartes-InterCommIT’s Central Translation Service, the Go-secure network and the Additional Services.
- Central Translation Service runs centrally at Descartes-InterCommIT and executes protocol and format conversions (mappings) and back-office integration. The conversion of ERP formats to EDI standards such as EDIFACT, XML, Tradacoms and vice versa is a good example of this. Mappings for customers are implemented and maintained centrally. Intelligent structuring of the service means that only 1 mapping is required per type of message, regardless of the number of branches or EDI trading partners. Customers also benefit from our extensive experience with ERP format conversions and back-office links.
- The Go-secure network service manages message traffic between customers and is fully protected by digital certificates. This guarantees message authenticity and integrity. Messages can also be relayed on to other networks such as GXS, X.400 or via AS2 , meaning that message delivery is guaranteed.
- The Additional Services offer our customers more information and a greater degree of certainty with regard to communication with trading partners. These services can be used at the customer’s discretion and in order to comply with specific purchaser demands.
